Steel Melting Workshop

The Rustavi Metallurgical Plant’s steel melting workshop produces 100x100mm square billets made of low-carbon steel. A500C and A400C-class construction re-bars of heat-treated steel 12-32mm in diameter are then produced from these billets on a Mill-320 in the reinforcing bar workshop.

The steel melting workshop comprises the following work stations:

• stock yard - scrap preparation
• six 12-tonne induction furnaces
• a 15-tonne arc furnace
• a ladle furnace
• a two-line continuous casting machine
• The workshop is served by 14 bridge cranes.
